The 2025 Diesel Van Shortage
Date: Wednesday 19th February
Time: 10:00 AM
Details
The Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate, introduced on 3rd January 2024, pushes for all new cars and vans to be zero emission by 2035. It requires manufacturers to sell a growing percentage of electric vehicles each year—or face fines of up to £18,000 per non-compliant van.
The issue? Many businesses feel electric vans don’t meet their needs, so demand is lagging. Manufacturers are responding by limiting diesel van supply and even threatening to leave the UK market. This could lead to a major diesel van shortage of over 200,000 vans in 2025– two thirds of the diesel van market size.
Do you know what impact that could have on your business? And, what you need to consider when running older, higher mileage vehicles to stay safe, reliable and compliant?
